Photograph of U.S. Army Air Forces personnel with the 31st Photographic Reconnaissance Squadron in an aerial reconnaissance laboratory in England in June 1944 around the time of the Normandy invasion during World War II. The men are pictured working on trimming the edges of and sorting contact prints of large-format photographs printed from a roll of film of aerial reconnaissance photographs, taken from a reconnaissance airplane. Photograph taken while 2nd Lt. Charles M. Allen Jr. of Mount Gilead, N.C., was stationed in England with Headquarters, 10th Photographic Group (Reconnaissance) (June 1944).
