WFC Birthplace Society Annual Meeting
featuring a presentation by Mary Tribble (WFU ’82, MA ’19), author of Pious Ambitions: Sally Merriam Wait’s Mission South, 1813-1831.
November 7, 2021 @ 3:00 pm – 5:00 pm

The annual meeting of the Wake Forest College Birthplace Society will be held at the Museum on Sunday, November 7, 2021, at 3 pm. All WFCBS members and friends are invited to attend. During the business meeting, the Board of Directors will recognize recipients of the Volunteer of the Year and Distinguished Service awards. The meeting also features a presentation by Mary Tribble (WFU ’82, MA ’19), Senior Advisor for Engagement Strategies at Wake Forest University, about her new book Pious Ambitions: Sally Merriam Wait’s Mission South, 1813-1831.
In Pious Ambitions, Tribble tells the story of Sally Wait, a nineteenth-century woman endeavoring to make her mark on the world while striving to develop her faith. During her presentation, Tribble will share how she navigated Wait’s journal and a trove of letters that were passed down through her own family, from generation to generation, until they found their way to Special Collections and Archives at Z. Smith Reynolds Library in 1993. Pious Ambitions will be available for purchase at the annual meeting.
Members should register for the annual meeting online or by phone at 919-556-2911. Masks are required inside the Museum, regardless of vaccination status, and we encourage all members to stay home if they feel unwell. Museum staff will notify registered participants if the annual meeting is rescheduled due to COVID-19 concerns.
