Historical Walking Tour: SEBTS Campus
November 17 @ 1:00 pm – 2:30 pm
Join us as we explore a new part of historic Wake Forest every month, including the Wake Forest Historic District, Glen Royall Mill Village, Downtown, the Northeast Community, and the SEBTS campus.
Tours will occur on the fourth Friday of each month unless it corresponds with a holiday weekend.
Explore the Campus of Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary and College
This tour explores the SEBTS campus. The campus sits on the site of a former plantation and was the founding place of Wake Forest University. Only two nineteenth-century buildings remain, and Southeastern continues to occupy most of the buildings constructed by Wake Forest College in the twentieth century, although all buildings have undergone considerable renovation inside.
Walking tours are free and open to the public, but pre-registration is required.
Meeting Location & Parking
This tour will begin at the arch on Front Street. There is public parking downtown. Visitors may also park at the museum and walk to the arch.
Tour times vary, but most run about 90 minutes.
In the event of heavy rain or extreme heat, tours will be canceled and may be rescheduled. Registrants will be notified via email. July and August tours will take place inside the Wake Forest Historical Museum to protect participants from heat exhaustion.
Please be aware of your surroundings while on our walking tours. Most tours involve walking on multiple terrains and you may encounter stairs, sidewalks, cobblestone, pavers, uneven grades, paths, grades, curbs, and grass. Wear suitable footwear and comfortable clothing. Have fun and stay safe.
