Donation Drive for Tri-Area Ministry Food Pantry
April 13, 2021 – April 30, 2021
From April 13-30, the museum will be collecting food and monetary donations for Tri-Area Ministry Food Pantry. Founded in 1988, Tri-Area Ministry is a 100% volunteer-run, nonprofit organization with a mission to provide food to the food insecure in our community. The museum’s donation drive will run in combination with Wake Forest University’s Pro Humanitate Days, a two-week-long event encouraging WFU alumni to serve and donate in their community.
We invite museum visitors and community members to drop off donations at the museum during visiting hours, Tuesday-Friday, 9 AM-4:30 PM. The pantry’s most needed items include:
- Peanut butter
- Jelly (no glass jars)
- Canned vegetables
- Canned meat (chicken, tuna)
- Canned fruit
- Breakfast cereal
- Grits
- Oatmeal
- Rice
- Dried beans
- Pasta sauce (no glass jars)
- Crackers
- Feminine hygiene products
- Diapers
- Baby wipes
- Baby food
Monetary donations are important, too! For every $2 donated, Tri-Area Ministry can purchase 10lbs of food at the Food Bank. We will have a donation box for cash and check donations at the museum. (Checks can be made out to Tri-Area Ministry.) You can also mail checks to the museum or Tri-Area Ministry, PO Box 1394, Wake Forest, NC 27588.
If you would like to donate online with a credit or debit card, you can donate directly through Tri-Area Ministry’s website.
If you are unable to contribute financially to Tri-Area Ministry, consider volunteering to help with donation intake, bagging, and distribution. You can learn more by visiting Tri-Area Ministry’s Volunteer Page.
If you are experiencing food insecurity or need financial assistance, visit Tri-Area Ministry’s Resource Page for a list of social services available in Wake Forest.
Learn More About Pro Humanitate Days
The Wake Forest motto is Pro Humanitiate, or “for humanity”. In the spirit of Pro Humanitate, each spring Wake Forest University encourages WFU students, faculty, staff, students, alumni, parents, and friends to participate in service projects in their communities. This year’s focus is food insecurity.
After making a donation to Tri-Area Ministry Food Pantry, or participating in any other Pro Humanitate Days Activity, big or small, we encourage you to complete this form, so WFU can recognize your service!
